Surfactants

Surfactants, such as Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) and Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLES), are compounds that reduce surface tension between substances. PEG, with a chemical formula C_nH_2n+2O_n, functions as a solubilizer and emulsifier, while SLES (C_12H_25NaO_4S) is a foaming agent and detergent. Formulated by combining these compounds with other ingredients, surfactants are used in cleaning products, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. They help stabilize formulations, enhance foam production, and improve cleaning efficiency. These substances are typically white powders or liquids, have a shelf life of 1-2 years when stored at room temperature, and are critical in industries for maintaining product performance and quality.
